LESHER DOLLARS

Well-known numismatist Abe Kosoff called the Lesher Dollar series "none more rarer nor more interesting." We think they're "neat!"

As Anthoney Zerbe listed and described these years ago (A.N.A. produced a booklet of the listing), they are catalogued here by "Zerbe" numbers. You can see the same items in the HK book. The TAMS Journal Apr.1973 (Part 2) describes these perfectly also. There are other books published on the subject too.

Zerbe 9, Geo. Mullen, a scarce piece but beat up; VF for wear with a large bruise on one edge; several heavy "toning" areas; looks to have gone through a fire!   $1500

A short story: years ago we sold in auction a Lesher so badly worn that it was identified only by its shape and an incused number. We advertised it as the worst known Lesher Dollar! One brave sole won the lot then returned it, saying "This is the worst Lesher Dollar I've ever seen!" Go figure.
